It doesn't get much better than this...
Via the Amazon Vine review program, I got the Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT Carbon Fiber Tripod with SBH-100 Ball Head as one of my items. I'm not a professional photographer, but I'm in awe of this tripod. I used to use one that my dad gave me many, many years ago. Needless to say, it was pretty bare bones. This one has everything I could ever imagine that I'd need at my level (and then some!)The carbon fiber tripod legs extend quickly with little effort, and they are rock solid once tightened down. The center support extends with the flip of a switch, and also detaches so you can mount it horizontally should the need arise. The ball head is a work of art. Bubble levels to check both horizontal and vertical alignment, full rotation, easy camera mounting, the works. It even comes in a great carrying bag that you can sling over your shoulder along with your camera bag. It's got a little heft to it, so it's not something you'd want to carry around "just in case". Light Weight but Super Stable!
Not only is the tripod light weight being constructed of carbon fiber, it is extremely strong and stable. The MACC( Multi angle central column) feature is a especially useful for macro shots low to the ground. The Amazon price was about $100 less than other places that I shopped.

Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT
I was looking for a tripod to go with my first new DSLR D7000. Vanguard tripods have some pretty good reviews, so I picked this up when I Amazon offered 20% discount. It's probably an overkill for this camera but the tripod is beautiful (even has pattern on the legs). Functionally, it's very complete, even came with carry bag and stone bag. I only wish it has a strap to tie the legs when folded, but I'll make one, just to make it easier to carry as putting it in and out of the bag is not very practical. While it has almost all the functions of the more expansive fiber tripod that costs double or triple the price, it is a bit stiff and not as easier to work with. This is the only reason it gets a 4 stars instead of 5. I'll update if the joints gets smooths out after some use, together with the durability, then it will deserve the extra star!Update: After 2 weeks of use, it has loosen up a bit but still quite stiff. Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT Carbon Fiber Tripod
Finally, a carbon fiber light weight tripod at a price that won't break the bank. I watched all the videos and You Tube videos before I bought one and actually called Vanguard to talk to a Rep because I had a few questions. The Rep was very helpful and the tripod goes everywhere with me. Something I didn't take before because of the inconvenience and weight. AS I said, finally, a well built, solid unit with tons of perks and neat options to help get the job done. I have never owned a Gitzo or other major name brand expensive tripod, so I can't compare to those. I can only state from my experience, this is a well made, well thought out unit at a price that makes sense.
